Proponents pushing for a League expansion in Ghana, have withdrawn the proposal at an extra-ordinary congress at the secretariat of the Football Association on Wednesday.
Advocates wanted the number of Premier League clubs to be increased from 16 to 20 clubs.
“On the decision of increasing the number of clubs in the league, we have withdrawn the proposal and have referred it to the Executive Committee,” Central Region FA boss M S Doe said at the congress.
A 75 percent majority decision was needed to be achieved by the proponents to amend the rules and regulations of the Football Association.
This means 16 clubs will complete in the upcoming season which is scheduled to begin on 5th September.
