The Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing has assured the Ghanaian electorate that no government funds whatsoever have been paid to STX (E&C) Ghana Limited for the construction of the 30,000 housing units. The assurance was given by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Mr. Abraham Otabil, in reaction to comments made by Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader in Parliament yesterday. The Minority Leader had called for government to make full disclosure on expenses incurred in the prosecution of the STX fiasco. But in a response, the Public Relations Officer stated that what the nation has lost rather is valuable time occasioned by the inability of the partners to reconcile their differences and the ensuing Board room disagreements which have led to court cases.Mr. Otabil however assured that “despite this initial setback, the government is determined to proceed with its agenda to provide the needed housing for the citizens of Ghana, especially the security services.”He added that the statement issued on the matter on Wednesday 11th April, 2012 by the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing represents “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
