rLG Communications would build a mobile phone assembling plant by the end of March for the assembling of mobile phones and to generate employment for the youth.
The plant would engage some 20,000 youth and absorb all persons in the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) working with rLG Communications and make them permanent staff.
Mr Frederick Adetola, Chief Operations Officer of rLG Communications, said this in Tamale on Saturday during the launch of the NYEP-ICT module and the introduction of rLG phones that had have been assembled locally by rLG Communications.
rLG Communications aims at making mobile phones affordable to Ghanaians and at the same time offer employment for the youth to solve the youth unemployment problem in the country.
rLG Communications had already trained some 5,000 youths in mobile phone repairs and assembling under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) throughout the country.
Mr Adetola advised Ghanaians to patronize the phones so that other countries within the sub-region would view Ghana as the pace-setters in mobile phone repairs and assembling.
Mr Adam Mohammed Aminu Abio, Northern Regional Coordinator of the NYEPP, commended rLG Communications for partnering with government to train the youth in phone repairs and assembling.
He said the Northern Region had recruited some 300 youth under the NYEP who are undergoing training at rLG Communications on phone repairs and assembling.
