The country should have a new national carrier before the end of this year. Government last year contracted accounting firm, PriceWaterHouseCoopers to work out modalities for the establishment of an airline.
It says it currently receiving proposals from several international carriers that want partner government on this move. The proposed structure will see government own just 10 percent with the remaining taken up by the international carrier.
Transport Minister Fifi Kwetey tells JOYBUSINESS, government has no of being a majority stakeholder in the new carrier but rather a carried interest.
He adds that "the aim now is to have an airline that will be strong when it comes to its regional operations, that will lead to Accra becoming the regional hub, for travels in West Africa."
