Zimbabwe has signalled its eagerness to strengthen bi-lateral trade with Ghana through the establishment of sister-city relations between Kumasi and Bulawayo.
Ms. Pavelyn Tendai Musaka, the Zimbabwean Ambassador in Ghana, said the goal was to expand the economies of the pair, by linking up businesses for their mutual benefit.
“We believe that Kumasi, as one of the industrial cities in the West African sub-region, has many business opportunities which Zimbabwe can explore,” she stated.
Speaking at a press conference to throw more light on the 56th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, held in Bulawayo, Ambassador Musaka said the Suame Magazine, for instance, had a lot to offer Bulawayo in the automobile industry.
“Zimbabwe has lots of automobile factories which have been dormant for some years now, and we believe connecting the Suame Magazine to those factories could help revive them, by way of technology transfer and on-the-job training,” she added.
The Fair forms part of the 35th Independence Anniversary Celebration of the South African nation, and is structured to attract investment by providing the platform for businesses to market their products.
Ambassador Musaka said the Embassy had already worked to establish a Ghana-Zimbabwe Business Forum to serve the business interests of the two countries.
She therefore encouraged local entrepreneurs to strive to be part of the Forum, saying the benefits could be tremendous.
