The Business-to-Business (B2B) segment of the inaugural Ghana–Zurich Business & Cultural Expo 2026 (GZBE-2026) has been held in Zurich, marking a key step in deepening economic ties between Ghana, Switzerland, and the wider European Union.
The session brought together high-level delegates from both countries and delivered outcomes that reinforce a growing bilateral commercial corridor.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson, who was the Special Guest of Honour, highlighted government’s “Reset Agenda” aimed at stabilising the cedi and restoring macroeconomic confidence.
He emphasised the critical role of the Ghanaian diaspora in national development, urging Ghanaians abroad to invest their resources, skills, and networks back home.
Mr Quayson also touched on the proposed Dual Citizenship Bill currently before Parliament, expressing confidence that its passage will enhance diaspora participation in Ghana’s growth.
Ghana’s Ambassador to Switzerland, H.E. Prof. Mrs. Esi Awuah, joined officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, traditional leaders, and private sector stakeholders at the event.
Discussions focused on Ghana’s investment opportunities, including tax incentives, prospects under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), opportunities in the gold sector, and improving cross-border financial transfers. Education, skills development, and citizenship frameworks also featured prominently.
The session was chaired by Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhen of the Abeadze Traditional Area, with Nana Obokese Ampah, Apagyahen of the Asebu Traditional Area and Chairman of the Sankofa in Action Series, playing a key role as organiser.
A major highlight of the B2B engagement was a presentation by George Boateng of Kwame AI, a Ghanaian academic at ETH Zurich, who unveiled a coding education initiative targeting students from primary to tertiary levels.
The initiative includes 100 online coding scholarships for students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), supporting Ghana’s digital transformation drive.
Beyond the B2B discussions, the expo featured business pitching sessions, product exhibitions, Ghanaian food showcases, and an industrial tour.
Participants described the initiative as a “win-win” collaboration for both Ghana and Switzerland.
The second leg of GZBE-2026 is scheduled for May 2026, with organisers expecting broader participation and deeper cross-sector engagement as the expo positions itself as a leading platform for Ghana–EU business and cultural exchange.
