The New Zealand Government will in February, open its 2020-2021 scholarship programme to those who wish to study various programmes in 11 institutions of higher learning in that country.
The Student Loan Trust Fund, as a partner to the scholarship application process, is assisting Ghanaian nationals who wish to apply online for the various scholarship programmes.
The scholarships which are at the Postgraduate and PhD levels, will cover programmes in food security and agriculture, agribusiness, farm management, agricultural technology and dairy farming.
Other programmes include rural development, supply chain management, renewable energy, public policy, public management and good governance. The programmes will be run by eight universities and three technical institutions in New Zealand.
According to the New Zealand Honorary Consul to Ghana, Ms. Nicholina Annor-Adjei, the scholarships cover full tuition fees, a living allowance, establishment allowance and a number of travels to and from New Zealand for beneficiaries.
“The scholarships are part of New Zealand’s contribution to the human capital development of Ghana and Africa, and as someone who studied in New Zealand, I can assure you that the educational standards are amongst the highest in the world. It is my hope that as many Ghanaians as possible will take advantage of the opportunity,” said Ms Annor-Adjei.
The CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah said the application process is an open one, where applicants would be expected to apply online when the scholarship portal is opened between February 1 and 28.
“However our call centre will be available to assist applicants with queries relating to eligibility as well as academic and other requirements.”
He said the Students Loan Trust Fund was pleased to be a partner since the mandate of the Fund is to promote access to tertiary education for Ghanaians.
