Founder and Chief Executive of Margins ID Group, Moses Baiden Jnr, has urged young people to focus on the broader impact they can have on society, not just personal wealth.
Mr Baiden said business should be viewed as a tool for social transformation, empowerment, and national development.
“…Business has its impact in transforming society and empowering people to learn and advance, and also providing resources to impact the economy and people’s lives,” he said on Channel One TV’s The Point of View.
He highlighted that successful global business models are built with long-term societal impact in mind rather than short-term profit.
“But the fast food story is 150 years old. That’s actually to transform a nation…to encourage people to go beyond self and profits, and think about the impact they’re making internationally. That’s why I said the fast food job is the most important job, in terms of its impact,” he added.
Mr Baiden encouraged youth to embrace service, resilience, and productivity, stressing that success is measured by societal impact, not wealth.
“It’s your impact that matters. You can be a billionaire…You can also be an excellent teacher, pastor, or political activist. What counts is the effect you have on society,” he said.
He also emphasised holistic education, combining knowledge, character, and mentorship to prepare young people for meaningful contributions.
“I use education in a holistic sense. Character, training, values, and the pursuit of enlightenment,” he explained.
Mr Baiden also urged the youth to pursue goals that prioritize social impact, noting that purpose-driven work makes challenges manageable.
“If you are used to waking up at a certain time and working 14 hours a day, and you are enthused about the work, you don’t feel the pain of it…It’s not just about yourself or profits. It matters in the end game,” he said.
