Greater Accra Regional Minister, Julius Debrah has toured some selected centres of the newly created modules being implemented by the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) in the region.
The tour was to enable the Minster familiarize himself with the activities of the beneficiaries under the modules in the Region.
He was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr. Isaac Nii Djanmah Vanderpuye; the Greater Accra Regional Director of GYEEDA, Nii Afutu Quartey, and his Deputy, Mr. Cyril Tetteh Laryea.
The Minister’s tour took him to the offices of the Zongo Empowerment and Entrepreneurial Development (ZEED) at Abossey Okai and Nima. He also visited some screening points of the Alive Health Check (AHC) module at Dansoman where he interacted with some of the beneficiaries.
At Abossey Okai and Nima, Mr. Debrah said, the ZEED module formed part of Government’s initiative to provide jobs and empower the youth in the various Zongo communities.
He used the opportunity to advise the youth not to seek white-collar jobs only but also take advantage of the various vocational skills training programmes being implemented by Government through the GYEEDA programme.
He cited ZEED as one of such programmes that would help empower the youth in the Zongo communities acquire skills that would enable them become self-employed.
The Minister noted that ZEED was living to its purpose of generating jobs for the youth and called on stakeholders in the Zongo communities to embrace the module to reduce poverty.
At the AHC screening point at Dansoman, the Minister took the opportunity to get himself screened and interact with the beneficiaries.
Touching on the module, the Minister said Government created the module to bring basic healthcare services to the doorsteps of the ordinary Ghanaian.
He said Government recognizes that a healthier human resource is vital to the development of the country.
He charged the beneficiaries to work hard, be dedicated, focused and also avoid absenteeism.
He also used the opportunity to call on Ghanaians to embrace the AHC Module, by visiting the screening points regularly to check their health status.
This he said will help to promote healthy lifestyles to further develop and strengthen the human resource base of the country.
