Guaranty Trust Bank and Visa have rewarded some Visa cardholders in the 'Visa Akyedie Reloaded' giveaway promo which was relaunched in July this year.
In a short ceremony held at the Bank’s Head Office at Ridge in Accra, the winners of the promo were presented with various prizes including sleek wireless subwoofer soundbars, home theatres and a 65 inch Smart TV.
The Visa Akyedie promo was introduced by GTBank and Visa as part of their effort to champion cashless transactions during the Covid-19 pandemic; as well as reward customers of the Bank who use their Visa cards to make payments online and on its Point of Sale terminals (POS).
Subsequent to this, a second phase of the promo dubbed “Visa Akyedie Reloaded” was launched to issue instant free visa cards to customers upon request at any of the Bank’s branches nationwide, and reward customers for using them.
The ultimate winner of the promo, Bakare Olatunde who was rewarded with a 49-inch LG smart TV expressed delight at the reward received. “I am very excited about this. I use my Visa card for transactions mostly because it is safer and more convenient for me. Being rewarded for it is such a pleasure and I appreciate the kind gesture. I have never regretted banking with GTBank.”
Commenting on the promo, Divisional Head of Digital Banking and Partnerships, Leopold Armah, said “GTBank is committed to the country’s digitization agenda and so we periodically come up with these reward initiatives as a means of encouraging, not just our customers, but the general public to replace all their cash transactions with card as it is more secure.”
He further stated that “The global outbreak of coronavirus called for more effort to drive card usage, and the Visa Akyedie Reloaded Promo was a good way to do that. It is worthy of mention that during this period of the pandemic, we have seen an increase in card transactions which means that more people are getting used to transacting with cards and on electronic channels. For us as a Bank, we will ensure our cards and channels remain secure for transactions.”
Country Manager of Visa Ghana, Adoma Peprah said “We are delighted to continue working with GTBank to bring tailored offers to our customers so they can save when they spend with their Visa card. In a time as critical as this, Ghanaians are opting for a safer and more convenient way of making payments and Visa is glad to make this possible for them.”
