Mr Bismarck Tawiah-Boateng, Eastern Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to Heads of Departments in the Akyem Abuakwa area not to target perceived sympathizers of the NDC for transfers intended as punishment.
He said politicization of the public service would not help in promoting democracy, adding that, if their supporters were punished for their political preference, the party would be forced to rescue them from undue suffering.
Mr Tawiah-Boateng was speaking at a thanksgiving service of the Abuakwa North Constituency branch of the NDC, at New Tafo.
He advised party supporters not to be disturbed by the negative politics of the opposition.
Mr Tawiah-Boateng said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had very limited responsibility to Ghanaians so it had a lot of time at its disposal to criticize the NDC Administration.
He said the NDC government had the responsibility to ensure that at least the lives of Ghanaians became better than it was under the previous regime, therefore, it was important to strategize towards that goal.
Mr Tawiah-Boateng urged all NDC functionaries and sympathizers to be humble in their activities to enable the party to continue to enjoy the “Grace of God”.
He thanked the people of the region for the support they gave to the party in last year’s general election.
In a sermon, Pastor Lawrence K. Afriyie, of the Church of Christ, called on Ghanaians to guard against hatred because it is the underlying cause of many problems of society.
Ghanaians should also fight for peace, he said, adding that everybody who loved peace had patience and fellow feeling, which were prerequisite for progress, happiness and development.
