Hearts of Oak are through to the semi-final of the MTN FA Cup where they will meet premiership title chasers, Medeama.The Phobians managed to pip second-tier side, Gold Stars 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in the quarter-final to give them a chance to pick silverware come the end of the season.Striker Gilbert Fiamenyo scored the opener from the spot in the second half before Owusu Bempah sealed victory in added time to keep David Duncan's side in the Cup competition as Gold Stars finished the game with ten men.Hearts of Oak, who are currently 8th in the Premier League see the FA Cup as their only realistic chance of silverware this season, says captain Mahatma Otoo.Otoo says the team will be aiming to win the FA Cup for the fans this season.“Looking at the league, it will be very difficult to win it but the FA Cup is what we are targeting to win and I want us to win it for our fans,” Otoo said.The domestic double hopes of Medeama is still on after the Mauves sailed through to the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.Medeama defeated Heart of Lions 2-0 in the quarter-final clash at the T&A Park to reach the last four.However, they have a cracker ahead of them in the Cup competition as they will meet Hearts of Oak in the semi-final fixture in June.Goals from Godbless Asamoah after six minutes and an 88th minute strike by Victor Ayirey gave Medeama the home win.Medeama are sitting top of the Premier League log and will be hoping for better finish in both competitions.It was not a happy return for Angelo Arkhurst Dedon to Kumasi as it was Asante Kotoko, his former side who booked their place in the semi-final of the MTN FA Cup.The Eleven Wise coach was meeting his former side since taking up coaching, having played for Kotoko over a decade ago.Michael Helegbe won the day for the Porcupine Warriors, inspiring Kotoko in the 2-1 win over the second-tier side after 120 minute of thrilling football at the Baba Yara Stadium.Helegbe gave Kotoko the lead after Michael Akuffu had missed a penalty but Wise drew level through Justice Ampaw to send the game into extra time.Four minutes into the start of the first half of extra-time, Helegbe again came to Kotoko's rescue with a beautiful lob to edge home.But it was a nervy finish as Wise tried to push the game into penalties but Kotoko held on to reach the semis where they will face Amidaus Professionals.
