The President of Central Regional House of Chiefs (CRHC) and Omanhen of Abeadze Traditional Council, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie has appealed to chiefs to use any available medium to educate their subjects on the need to avoid expensive funerals in the country.
According to him, the money wasted on funerals could be used to assist the education of their children which was the best legacy to bequeath to any child.
Speaking at the end of year general meeting of the Central Regional House of Chiefs in Cape Coast, Nana Kwebu Ewusie urged the chiefs in the region to establish an Educational Fund in their various areas to assist brilliant needy students to help promote education in the region.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie who is also Member of Council State challenged Nananom to personally involve themselves in the activities of the School Management Committee (SMCs) in their respective traditional area. This, he observed has put the region's image on a very low profile when it comes to education in the country. He appeals to the chiefs in the region to form watch dog committees to check the activities of wayward children.
He again charged Nananom to form Health Committees in their traditional areas to check epidemics like diarrhoea, cholera and also champion the fight against the deadly AIDS which has no cure.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie called on chiefs to advise their subjects not to indulge in pornography another social vices such as internet fraud popularly known as "Sakawa". According to the President of CRHC, the Standing Committee of the house would liaise with the Central Regional, Minister Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe to discuss with her the benefits to be derived from the oil find in the Western Region as well the progress about the Saltpond oil project.
The meeting was also used to admit three new members into the house. They are Nana Amoakwa Buadu VIII, Breman Asikumahen, Nana Obrepong Nyanful Krampah XI, Gomoa Ajumakohen and Nana Odeefo Afankwa III, Breman Essiamhen. A supervising High Court Judge in cape Coast, Judge Francesca Owusu Arhin who swore the new members into the house, charged them to abide by the house rules and regulation in order to help prevent chieftaincy disputes in the region.
