Some traditional leaders in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti region are telling President Akufo-Addo to honour his promise of constructing their roads and extending electricity to the 25 rural communities in the area.
During the 2020 election campaign, the President promised to complete the construction of Mim junction to Datano road to curb armed robbery incidents and boost the local economy.
Thus, the chiefs want the president to fulfill his promise to change the lives of the people.
“We are pleading with the president to immediately fix our roads as he promised during his last visit. If it's due to the contractor, he should kindly terminate his contract and give it to someone else.
"If it is also a matter of financial constraints, we need to know, the People of Manso are really dying due to bad roads. Investors refuse to come here due to bad roads.
"There's a police station but no police officer wants to come because of the bad roads," the Chiefs lamented.
The also complained that Doctors refuse to travel the distance to deliver healthcare due to the nature of road.
"Residents of Amansie South district are really suffering,” Chief of Manso-Akwasiso, Nana Kwakye Gyimah Yeboah II told Journalists.
One of the major challenges facing residents in the Amansie south district is the poor quality of their roads.
According to the Chiefs, criminals have taken advantage of the situation to rob residents at gunpoint.
Nana Gyimah Yeboah II also took the opportunity to remind the President about the extension of rural electrification to 25 communities in the district.
“Not too long ago, the government awarded a contract to extend electricity to 25 communities in the district without electricity," he said.
Some of these towns include Manukrom, Akyekyerekrom, Broso, Nnipa Nkyemia, Nyamebekyere, Manhunusaetc.
"They all have no lights. A ceremony was launched for the commencement of work but sadly, the contractor left the project after poles arrived.
"Now the poles are still lying around without any attempt to fix them.” He added.
Amansie south was carved out of Amansie West district in 2018. However, the lack of developmental projects continues to place residents at a disadvantage.
The residents have raised several concerns in the past and in some instances, organized demonstrations to register their displeasure.
They also asserted that Mr Akufo-Addo maintained the acting District Chief Executive, Clements Opoku Gyamfi, to foster unity and peace.
“We make this appeal based on the excellent effort put up by him in just eight months he came into office. We know if the President reappoints him, he'll do extraordinary things within the next four years judging by what he has done over the eight months.”
