Social activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has apologised to Parliament's Appointments Committee for accusing them of demanding money from ministerial nominees before granting their approval after being vetted.
Speaking during his appearance before the committee on Wednesday, January 29, Mr Barker-Vormawor stated that his comments were not intended to harm the committee's reputation.
"I want to make it clear that my post was not meant to disparage any member of the committee. I did not intend to imply that committee members received or demanded bribes from any individual. For this reason, I apologise," he said.
He, however, explained that a second post or news report which was presented by the Committee was not authored by him.
According to him, that post had been made by a portal on social media.
He also agreed to the Committee's request to issue a disclaimer to that comment and publicise his apology to the Committee for it to get the same attention that his initial post received.
