Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has hinted at a possible move into football administration, with reports suggesting he is considering a bid for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency.

The 36-year-old, however, stopped short of confirming that he intends to contest the position.

Ayew made the comments on the Obi One Podcast, hosted by former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, in Accra on Sunday.

“First of all, what the masses want is most important.

“I've heard the rumours about people saying I should lead Ghana football, but that's not what is important; I just want our football to grow,” he said.

“Not tomorrow, but now,” Ayew added.

The next Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential and executive council elections are scheduled to take place in 2027.

Kurt Okraku has been the head of the country's football governing body since 2019.

Ayew is currently without a club after leaving Dutch side NAC Breda in May.

He has remained in Ghana and continued to train ahead of a possible move abroad, with ongoing negotiations with “three clubs”.

He has captained Ghana and represented the Black Stars at several major international tournaments including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
