Ghanaian singer Camidoh has explained his reason for posting pictures and a video of him smoking an unknown substance, which went viral on social media.
He said he was telling a story with visuals because he is on a journey on earth; therefore, there is a need for him to create memories of his life.
“I was telling a story. People tell stories with negative things but positive stories. So, that’s what I’m trying to explain, but at that point till now, it’s still there because I’m trying to tell a story,” he explained.
The singer sees nothing wrong with his actions because he believes everybody has their own reasons for things they engage in.
Camidoh addressed this in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show.
Based on his motive for publishing the videos and pictures, the ‘Sugarcane’ hit maker says he is not remorseful for his decision, despite the trolls from social media users.
"Do you have any regrets for it?" Roselyn asked.
“No. But I guess it’s an unfolding story; it’s something that man has been through, and he tries to tell a story, but it has to come in phases. You just don’t tell God to show you your future now. You have to go through the process, and people have to be patient to be able to get the full story,” he answered.
He is not bothered by people expressing disappointment for his actions because he thinks it is human nature and individuals have their own perceptions on issues.
The artist does not consider smoking to be 'necessarily' as bad as most people perceive. He continued that the doctors have to detect whether or not it is good for every person.
Born Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie, the afrobeat sensation is known to be one of Ghana’s best at composing hit songs. His song ‘Sugarcane’ became the most viewed Ghanaian music video on YouTube in May 2024.
For a while, the silky-voiced singer has not been able to release any singles, and a smoking video and images of him suddenly surfaced on the internet in 2024. His post startled most of his fans, who were questioning the reason for such an attitude.
But the artiste, who is on a promo tour with his newly released track, ‘Nothing Last Forever,’ revealed that his actions were the result of a heartbreak he experienced, which caused him “real pains” that he struggled to deal with. Therefore, he resorted to smoking to remedy his circumstances.
Camidoh has picked up his pieces following the lessons learned and has poured out his pain in his new song, urging others to apply some logic so as not to go through as much pain as he did.
