The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has assured the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, of full police support ahead of her funeral and related arrangements.
The assurance was delivered when the IGP visited the bereaved family in Accra on Friday, October 24, to convey their condolences on behalf of the Ghana Police Service.
Addressing the family, the Director of Police Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, described the former First Lady as a national figure whose work had influenced the police service in meaningful ways, particularly in advancing women’s leadership.

“Yesterday, like all Ghanaians, the Police Service was deeply shocked by the passing of our mother. Her work in women empowerment and gender mainstreaming has had a direct impact on the service,” she said.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi noted that Nana Konadu’s advocacy contributed to increased female recruitment into the Police Service, as well as the appointment of more women into senior management roles.
“That is something we are grateful for — the many lives she touched and the institutions she strengthened. The Police Service is among those who benefited from her dedication,” she added.
She emphasized that the Police Service stands firmly with the family during this period of mourning.
“Today, the IGP is here to tell the family, the children, and all loved ones that the Police Service stands with you in this difficult time. Our hearts and prayers are with you,” she said.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi further indicated that the Police are ready to provide full security support during the funeral events, noting that the ceremony will be of national significance.
“As preparations begin, we recognise that this will be a national event, and security arrangements will be critical.
"The IGP and his team are ready to play any role needed to ensure that our mother is seen off properly,” she stated.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
