Nancy Assor Asiedu-Amrado, a Chartered Marketer and the Head of Brands Management at AT (formerly AirtelTigo), celebrated this year’s International Women's Day at Akyem Hemang on March 12, 2025. Inspired-by-Assor, a women’s empowerment program, aimed to inspire girls in education and empower women economically.
This laudable initiative attracted women and girls at Akyem Hemang, and neighbouring towns including Dome and Gyampomani. During the event, Assor highlighted how the importance of good personal values, thinking big, setting tangible goals, designing action and implementation plans can empower them to achieve remarkable successes. Assor donated one thousand (1,000) customized exercise books to the girls, five (5) Veronica buckets, gallons of liquid soap and perfumed wash softeners to the schools, and community.
She urged students to maintain good hygiene and frequent handwashing amidst the current cholera outbreak. In order to empower the women, Assor and her team trained the women in the production of local liquid soap and perfumed after-wash detergents for sale. She guided them through e ective marketing and branding strategies, sharing valuable insights to help them commercialize their well-di erentiated products using both traditional and new media.

She emphasized, “We have been behind for so long. We don’t have time to waste. Women should be confident, work hard, and accelerate actions needed to achieve our gender parity goals. She urged men and community leaders to support women to enable them to become economically viable. She launched the ‘Inspired-by-Assor Mentorship & Awards Scheme for the young girls and formed a Women’s Empowerment Network for the Women in the community.
Commenting on the program, Osabarima Mirrikkissi Okasum Apori Atta remarked, “Inspired-by-Assor is a laudable initiative and should not end here. Continue to work with more communities until all our women and girls are able to attain financial independence.” He also advocated on behalf of the women that, government through agencies like MASLOC, would assist them with soft loans in order to help them achieve their desired financial freedom.

The event was well attended by dignitaries, including the Chief of Akyem Hemang, Osabarima Mmirrikkissi Okasum Apori Atta, Hon. Kofi Okyere Agyekum, former MP for Fanteakwa South, Nana Ntori Agyebeng - Gyaasehene of Akyem Hemang/former DCE, Fanteakwa South.
