Isaac Awuku Yobor who contested the Domeabra-Obom parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in last Saturday’s polls in the Greater Accra region has been declared winner.
Mr Isaac Awuku Yibor, a former constituency chairman of the party was given the nod to represent the constituency in parliament.
He polled 22,790 votes ahead of his opponent Muhammed Abdul Wahab of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Soon after the declaration by the Electoral Commission’s Deputy District Officer George Obeng Osei, the MP-elect and his constituency executives led by their Chairman Rev. Abeam Danso took to the streets to celebrate the victory of their MP-elect.
With regards to the presidential race, the NDC's John Dramani Mahama polled 25, 298 ahead of the NPP's Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's 6, 808. Daniel Augustus Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party polled 43 votes, Christian Kwabena Andrews of Ghana Union Movement polled 54, and Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana had 16 votes.
Mohammed Frimpong of the National Democratic Party had 15 votes, while Nana Akosua Frimponmaaa Kumankuma of the Convention People's Party had 76 votes. Hassan Ayariga of the All People's Congress polled 71 votes, Independent Candidate Kofi Koranteng polled 10 votes, George Twum-Barima Adu, another independent candidate had 9 votes, Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force had 171 votes, whereas Alan Kyerematen's Movement For Change garnered 68 votes.
There were 1,014 rejected ballots out of the total valid votes cast of 33, 653.
Domeabra-Obom Constituency is made up of 13 electoral areas, and 112 polling stations with a 58,661 voter population.
