Alhaji Hamza Danjuma, Volta Regional Chief Imam, said a clear distinction has to be made between Arab terrorists and the religion Islam.
He said Jihad has changed its character from the days of the Holy Prophet Mohammed to that of "educational jihad" in modern times where the pen has become mightier than the sword.
"As an Imam, I do not believe in AI-Qaeda as no one has the moral right of taking the life of another person in the name of Jihad," he said.
Alhaji Danjuma made this observation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on his goodwill message for the year 2010 in Ho on Thursday.
He advised parents to place surveillance on the activities of their children and correct them when they go wrong.
Alhaji Danjuma asked the youth to take education more seriously so as to become assets to the nation.
He challenged Ghanaian Muslims to use the New Year to build a common platform to champion the cause of the Islamic faith.
