JoyNews Editor, Israel Laryea has stated he has tested negative for Covid-19 and currently out of isolation.
The News Editor tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, after being named as a contact to another carrier.
“There has been an update to my situation, I tested negative and I have since relocated to the main house, I use to live in the outhouse but am no longer in the outhouse, I am out of isolation.”
Sharing his experience on PM: Express with other survivors, Sammy Forson and Raymond Acquah on Tuesday, he said he was in dismay when he received the news that he was positive.
“I was shocked and I was shocked more because I thought I had taken really good care of myself, so I was shocked.”
He recalled: “In the office, I am the Covid police, am the one who’s always in a mask, the one who’s always on everybody’s neck and asking people to wear their masks and stay away from me, so I was shocked.”

Unlike most people, Mr Laryea did not encounter many symptoms but only realised a during tests after he was named as a contact of a carrier.
“If that person had not named me as a contact, I would have gone about my business as usual, but once I was named and I tested, I had to stay away.”
Israel Laryea, who had earlier shared part of the survival story on Facebook noted the need for everyone to observe the Covid-19 protocols and get tested as one may not exhibit many symptoms, just like himself.
“Before I tested (positive), I really didn’t have anything (symptoms) so I will say yes, I have been largely in-symptomatic.”
“I have been fortunate enough to wake up in the morning and go for my routine, morning exercises and it's rigorous that I have been able to survive.”
