Amenfi Central MP Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has called for deliberate policies to increase women’s participation in governance and leadership.
Speaking at the 2025 Women’s Dialogue, held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, she emphasized the need for structural support to ensure women’s inclusion in decision-making.

“As a society, we must create an enabling environment for women to engage in leadership. Reserved seats, leadership training, and financial support are necessary steps to encourage more women into governance,” she stated.
“True progress can only be achieved when women are given equal opportunities to lead and influence policies that shape the future.”
The event, held under the patronage of Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, brought together leaders, policymakers, and advocates to discuss the theme, “Resetting the Agenda for Women: Accelerating Action on Women’s Rights, Equity, and Empowerment.”

Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe also stressed the importance of mentorship, networking, and financial support for women in leadership roles.
“Women leaders need the right training and resources to make a meaningful impact in their fields. Without these, the barriers to success remain too high,” she noted.

The dialogue attracted a distinguished audience, including Agnes Momo, Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, and business leader Kate Quartey-Papafio.

Beyond discussions on women’s empowerment, the event showcased Ghana’s rich cultural heritage with traditional music, dance, and attire, adding vibrancy to the occasion.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe expressed her gratitude to Vice President Opoku-Agyemang and the event organisers, reaffirming her commitment to championing policies that support women’s empowerment.

“With collective effort, we can create a just and equitable future where women and girls can thrive,” she concluded.
