France-based John Boye is set to miss Ghana’s international friendly against Turkey next week through injury. The central defender is said to have suffered a muscle strain while in action for Stade Rennes at the weekend. The 26-year-old is expected to be out for an estimated two-week period – effectively ruling him out of the friendly match to be played in Istanbul on August 14.Boye is also expected to miss the opening French league match against Evian on Friday.
The situation provides an opportunity for coach Akwasi Appiah to call in a replacement. The Black Stars trainer is looking to making the most out of the friendly to assess options ahead of Ghana’s deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia next month.
