The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has assured that the party's flagbearer for the 2024 election, John Mahama will serve Ghana with integrity if elected President.
According to him, John Mahama is the right man for Ghana. Gyamfi believes that Mahama, if elected, will be a great president for the country. He asserted that John Mahama had genuine intentions for Ghana and its citizens, aiming to build a better nation and a government that would benefit everyone.
In an interview on Joy News' AM Show on Friday, Gyamfi explained, "In my humble opinion, the lesson for him is simple: he served this nation beautifully in the past, and if given the opportunity to serve again, he must uphold his record of service with integrity and strive to achieve even more than he did during his previous term."
He further explained that real leaders are defined not by the good things that happen to them, but by how they handle adversity. "It is in times of difficulty that you appreciate the true character of good leaders. Like gold, which must be refined by fire to reveal its purity, a leader's true character and vision are best appreciated when tested by the fire of accountability."
Mr Gyamfi stated that John Mahama has now been tried and tested. He has gone through the fire of accountability as both a former Vice President and President. He has been thoroughly investigated by statutory anti-corruption bodies and has emerged completely unscathed.
“And so, this was a blessing in disguise. It's like what the Holy Book says: all things work together for good to those who love God. John Mahama is a man who loves God, and what his enemies meant for evil, God has turned into a testimony for him.”
He questioned who would have known that John Mahama consistently acted with good intentions in his dealings with companies if President Akufo-Addo had not filed a complaint with the Special Prosecutor, prompting an investigation. He emphasized that the investigation into the supposed Airbus case confirmed that Mahama never accepted a bribe.
He added that, despite all the shenanigans and lies directed at him, John Mahama remains a truthful man.
