Ghana’s leading radio station Joy 99.7 FM has kickstarted its ‘Battleground’ one of it politically engaging election programmes with some 21 days to go to the December polls.
'Battleground' brings to listeners an in-depth analysis of the most keenly contested constituencies across the country.
Hosted by the deputy head of Joy News' political desk, Malik Abass Daabu, it takes a look at the history of some of the constituencies, look at the political parties' as well as the parliamentary candidates chances and project into the future.
It also speaks to issues on the ground focusing on which candidates are winning the electorate's approval and who are swimming against the violent tides.
And of course, it speaks to the electorates who are at the center of the election to bring their views to the parties and candidates.
The hour long programme which airs from Monday to Wednesday from 7 p.m – 8 p.m premiered on Tuesdays with the hotly contested Klottey-Korle Constituency in Accra, put under the microscope.
The first edition saw news anchor Francis Abban who has spent days in the constituency share his findings with the listeners.
Also sharing his finding in one of Accra’s swing constituency is the head of Joy News' political desk, Evans Mensah.
In April this year Evans Mensah led the team on Joy FM election programme The Ballot Box to gauge the issues that would influence choices of the constituents in this year’s election.
Has the regular narrative changed since Mr Mensah's last visit? Follow the discussion on key issues of low education, fisherfolk related challenges, unemployment and power cuts in the constituency are put in perspective.
