“If he is able to heal and start living a normal life again, it will be our pleasure”.
Those are the words of Prince Acheampong Arkoh, Senior Human Resource Manager at Comsys, when he led his team to donate towards the surgery of Vincent Attobrah; the young man who feeds through a tube and syringe.
The young man from Ewusiejoe, a farming community in the Ahanta West Municipality, suffers from a condition called oesophageal stricture. His sense of taste has been sealed for the past three years, and is unable to eat or drink through his throat.
When we shared his story, many people have contributed towards his surgery; the kind donations from GH¢1 to GH¢1000, have generated in excess of what is needed for the surgery and will go a long way to get him back on his feet.
Then one Mr. Bonsu, contributed $3000 - the full amount for the surgery.
On Friday, IT company, Comsys paid a visit to Multimedia to present a cheque of GH¢27,000 towards Vincent Attobrah’s treatment. Prince Acheampong Arkoh, the Senior Human Resource Manager at Comsys, explained that his story touched the entire organization, and they could not sit and watch him suffer.
“The drive was giving back to the society. We felt the pain of the young man and decided to help. The decision was out of love and giving back to society and to see joy once again on Vincent Attobrah’s face”, he said.
According to him, supporting Vincent Attobrah to regain his ability to eat and drink through his oesophagus falls in line with their company values.
“Our value supports this gesture because one of our values is people’s focus which is enhancing the potential and power of people. So as part of these values, we felt that if this boy stands up once again to live a normal life, we as a company will be happy”, he further stated.
Receiving the cheque, Chief HR Officer for Multimedia Group Limited, Nana Mbroh Elegba thanked Comsys for following up after watching the story of Vincent Attobrah.
“May the blessings of God never depart from Comsys, and may the blessings of God continually rest and abide in Comsys. Comsys is a Ghanaian company just like the Multimedia Group Limited, and we are partners in so many ways. We thank you for coming to the aid of this little boy when we put out this story,” he stated.
Nana Mbroh Elegba continued: “May this token you’ve sown in the life of this little boy be like a mustard seed and bring forth much fruit not only for the company but even the individuals”.
Meanwhile, payment has been made at the Korle Bu teaching Hospital for Vincent’s surgery.
