The resolve of embattled High Court Judge, Justice Paul Uuter Dery to frustrate the screening of a video on judicial bribery remains unshaken despite a first-round loss in court.

Justice Dery has filed an application for interlocutory injunction in the Kumasi High Court.

He wants the Kumasi branch of Golden Tulip, Ultimate Radio, and Tiger Eye PI to be restrained from screening a video in which some 34 judges and about 100 judicial staff and police officers were allegedly caught receiving bribes to pervert justice.

The Kumasi-based radio station is running advertisements of Tiger Eye PI, the company of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which filmed the alleged briberies.

Golden Tulip is being advertised as the venue for the screening scheduled for Friday evening, October 2, 2015.

Justice Dery is challenging the legality of the evidence which has formed the basis for investigative proceedings against him and others.

In a writ filed on September 14, Justice Dery argued the collection of the evidence was done in violation of his right to privacy.

He contends that the continued publication of the contents of the video would prejudice his right to fair hearing.

The High Court judge, who is one of 12 High Court judges caught on video allegedly receiving bribes, said the screening of the video is also in violation of the 1992 constitution.

He filed various processes to stop the screening in Accra but the event came off as planned on September 22 and 23, 2015 at the Accra international conference centre.

Justice Dery cited Anas, two editors of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, CEO of Starr FM, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, and Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, Sulemana Braimah for contempt.

He said despite knowledge of his suit in court challenging the legality of the video, the five had conducted themselves in ways that scadalised the court and sought to bring the administration of justice into disrepute.

He wanted them committed to prison for contempt.

Court of Appeal judge, Justice Gertrude Torkonoo this week dismissed the case on grounds that Justice Dery himself had earlier withdrawn a case seeking to stop Anas from  screening the video.

He expressed shock at the court's decision and petitioned the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood.

He later caused his lawyers to appeal the decision.
