German-based physiotherapy company Kanzlsperger, in partnership with Ghanaian physiotherapist Professor Jonathan Quartey, has donated essential medical equipment to the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA).
The presentation ceremony was held on Friday morning at WAFA’s training grounds in Sogakope.
WAFA head coach Saddick Abubakar expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the team.
“We are grateful to Professor Quartey for these items,” he said. “The technical team and players appreciate this generous gesture, as these are costly resources that will greatly enhance our work as a team.”
Jan Gosgens, Managing Director of WAFA, also commended Professor Quartey for his continued support.
“We are very grateful for this donation,” Gosgens said. “Professor Quartey has been part of the WAFA family for years.
"He was one of our physiotherapists during the Feyenoord era, and the bond remains strong. His unwavering commitment to the club is something we deeply value, and we look forward to achieving more together in the future.”
Speaking after the presentation, Professor Quartey shared the inspiration behind his gesture.
“My relationship with WAFA dates back many years,” he explained. “I worked with the club for 11 years before their relocation to Sogakope, and we’ve maintained a connection, particularly in the area of human resource support.
“I am passionate about rehabilitation and player welfare, so I felt it was important to provide these items to aid the club’s efforts in this regard.”
Professor Quartey is no stranger to such acts of generosity. Just last week, he made a similar donation to Accra Shooting Stars.
From 2003 to 2014, Professor Quartey worked with WAFA—then known as Feyenoord Academy—at their Gomoa Fetteh base before the club moved to Sogakope.
WAFA currently competes in Zone 2 of the National Division Two League, with hopes of leveraging such support to achieve greater success.
