New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin-Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he regrets campaigning and voting for the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong.
Speaking Wednesday on ‘Burning Issues’ on Adom FM which was also broadcast live on Asempa FM, Mr. Agyapong expressed surprise at the management style and attitude of Kwabena Agyapong, especially taking decisions without agreeing with other party executive.
“I’m so disappointed in Kwabena, he is a very smart gentleman but I don’t know what has come over him. He is finished, I swear to you. If he continues like this, he will not last even six months in office,” he cautioned.
The party’s headquarters was the scene of mayhem on Tuesday, when unknown men wielding machetes and sticks stormed the premises threatening to lynch their Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong over alleged unilateral appointment of Deputy Communication Directors and other concerns.
It is the belief of many party followers that the decisions being taken by the two gentlemen are calculated at giving an edge to one of the frontrunners in the upcoming presidential contest, Mr. Alan Kyerematen.
“Anytime you see Alan’s group contributing to the party, it is just to destroy the party, but we will not give them the chance; why! We are not afraid of anybody let them try,” he exclaimed.
He said the party followers will not allow any selfish leader or member to destroy the party and threatened to “leave the party for them” if this continues.
“I’m tired am sick of Kwabena Agyapong I can’t defend him again. I will use the same way I campaigned for him to kick him out. I don’t know where he gets his influence from; he has goofed this time,” he stressed.
The MP warned that if the recent confusion is to prevent Nana Akufo-Addo from becoming flagbearer of the party: “I swear he [Kwabena] won’t last in office, we will decide their fate, I want to tell Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko that they are not gods,” he screamed angrily.
