An avowed critic of the erstwhile NPP government Kofi Wayo has warned he would resign from Energy Commission Board if things are not done the right way.
Even before the enigma would formally accept President Mills’ appointment to serve on the board, he has served notice he would not entertain any acts of corruption at the Commission.
He told Citi News on Thursday, the appointment is only an opportunity to serve, sacrifice and not to make merry. “You don’t get happy with such appointments,” he added.
He would not even respond to a congratulatory message from his interviewer.
Mr. Wayo surprisingly revealed he had no prior information about his appointment, adding he would think about it before accepting it.
That not withstanding, the energy expert touted his credentials saying “I am an efficient person more than anything you’ve ever seen in this country.”
Kofi Wayo affectionately called ‘chuck’ until his appointment had stints with the previous administration, but left amidst claims of corruption against the NPP.
He subsequently formed his own political party, the United Renaissance Party (URP) but pulled out of the 2008 General Elections and joined forces with the then opposition National Democratic Congress which subsequently won power.
Mr Wayo is expected to bring his expertise to bear on his new appointment if he subsequently agrees to serve on the board.
The Energy Commission is chaired by Prof. Abeiku Hammond with four other members including; Dr. Ohemeng Dapaah, Dr. Francis D. Bawana, Dr. Rudith King.
