The rivalry between Kpando Secondary School (KPASEC) and Kpando Technical Institute( KPANTEC) in the Volta Region has for ages has resulted in the destruction of school property.
The situation have been an old age unhealthy rivalry between the two school separated only by a road.
The last altercation was in May this year which resulted in the pulling down of a fence wall of Kpando SHS (KPASEC).
In a move to resolve the constant friction and vandalism as a result of the school rivalry between the students of both schools, the 1992/1994 year group of Kpando Secondary Old Students Association (KOSA) have initiated a roadmap to mend the relationship between the two schools.
According to the president of the group, Cornelius Komlaga, the roadmap includes engagements with past students of Kpando Technical Institute, school authorities of both schools and current students of both schools.
''We should have academic rivalry, not physical and violent rivalry among ourselves. That is what we are working at. So that we can compete on good grounds- things that will bring development to both schools," he said Komlaga.
"We are trying as much as possible to involve our mother group KOSA National and dialogue with old students of Kpando Technical School. When we reach an amicable settlement, then we will the come to the level of the students," he added.
The group has also started a welfare scheme to help members who may require some financial assistance to ensure that members lend a helping hand to those who are in need.
The initiative was unveiled during a socialization event of the year group at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho on Republic Day.
The vice president of the group, Eric Sedinam Kutortse said ''the initiative is to ensure that everyone is in a better position in life to contribute meaningfully to the development of our alma mater.''
The group also seeks to raise funds to complete a 20-seater water closet toilet facility they initiated for the girls dormitory of the school before the end of this year.
