Asante Kotoko have won the Premier League title for a third-straight season after beating New Edubiase 2-1 on Wednesday.
The victory at the Gyamfi Park hands the Porcupine Warriors their 23rd title success in Ghana's elite competition as they are the champions of the First Capital Plus Premier League.
Needing three points to lift the title, the celebration and chanting started well before the final whistle as Seidu Bancey opened the scoring in the 41st minute.
And on the stroke of halftime, Prince Baffoe doubled their advantage to give Didi Dramani, who will celebrate his second consecutive title at the helm a great opening half.
After the break, Edubiase, struggling to beat the drop mounted the pressure to draw a goal back.
Their efforts earned them a penalty in the 82nd minute but former Kotoko striker, Stephen Manu missed from 12 yards.
Despite Manu's miss from the spot, Nti Mensah scored what could only be a consolation for Edubiase in the closing stages.
The league title looked destined for Kumasi but poor results seem to put their ambitions out of reach as teams below them mounted the pressure.
But with two games to go now, Kotoko will celebrate the title ahead of their 'Super Clash' against rivals, Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.
The victory hands Kotoko a return to the CAF Champions League after they were eliminated in the first round in their campaign this season.
