Bennard Kumordzi, the Ghanaian midfielder, has admitted winning the Belgian FA Cup title has changed the texture of his football career. The 27-year-old scored late, in the 85th minute with a sensational header, before his team-mate Jelle Vossen, sealed the success a minute left of normal time at the Stade Roi Baudouin.Kumordzi, who joined Genk from French side FC Dijon, has enjoyed a memorable first season with Mario Been’s side scoring important goals for the club – including Thursday’s crucial strike and a goal in the sixth round victory over Union Saint-Gilloise.The former Panionios man made his debut appearance in European competition this season – helping the Blues to the group stages of the Uefa Europa League. The Cup success, is his first major title and Kumordzi who did not play league football in Ghana before leaving for Europe admits Thursday’s title has given him a lot of joy about playing football.“it’s not every bloke who takes up football as a career and reach this milestone. It’s good to win titles and I’m really happy I’ve recorded this and I’ll keep the medal for ever,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.He also looks into the future ahead: “There’s still more to work for. We are in contention for the league title and everything is possible. If I stay here, I will play in Europe again next season and that would be another great experience but now the focus is on winning the league title.”Kumordzi has been one of the most impressive Ghanaian players abroad this season and could join Kwadwo Asamoah if Genk win the Belgian Pro League title at the end of the championship play-offs.
