A group affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Zongo for Mahama has been launched in Wa, capital of the Upper West Region.
The objective of the group is to ensure that president Mahama secures an overwhelming mandate from the people in the upcoming general elections.
The group will reach out to all Zongo communities across the length and breadth of the region to ensure an effective mobilization of the rank and file of its members.
Speaking at the launch, the spokesperson for the group, Issa Adnaan said they will educate members on matters relating to elections and promote the presidential candidate of the NDC and the parliamentary aspirants.
Mr. Adnaan stated that Wa Central Zongo can boast of its fair share of development especially in the areas of school infrastructure, provision of boreholes for good drinking water and construction of better drains among others.
"No one knows how unproductive, wicked, selfish, power drunk, tribalistic and unjust the NPP is more than the people of Zongo. History has it all. Let the NPP continue promising heaven on earth. Let them continue insulting the Kayaye (head porters) by promising them free hostels, 7th December is not far. Ghanaians will tell whether you are Allah to promise us Allah on earth’’, Mr. Issa added.
Deputy majority leader and NDC parliamentary candidate for Wa Central constituency, Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo launching the group assured the people that president Mahama will continue with the good works of former president Mills by including them in all facets of the country’s development.
‘‘We are not voting for Mahama because he is communication expert, it is not because he is inspiring, it is not because he is fine and a gentle politician, but because he has demonstrated commitment to our people, he has shown the love for the people of Zongo and equally shown that if given the nod he will ensure Ghana becomes the beacon of development in Africa’’, he posited.
