President John Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to completing the Sewua Hospital by the end of the year, emphasising that several vital projects initiated under his previous administration had stalled in recent years.

Addressing the clergy in Kumasi on Sunday, he assured that his government would prioritise these unfinished developments to improve healthcare and infrastructure in the region.

He highlighted the significance of the Sewua Hospital in easing congestion at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, allowing crucial renovation works to proceed.

"I have assured Otumfuo that we will complete the Sewua Hospital this year. The completion will enable us to decongest Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, ensuring that essential rehabilitation works can continue there," President Mahama stated.

Beyond the Sewua Hospital, the President also addressed delays in other critical projects, including the Afari Military Hospital.

He revealed that discussions with Euroget De-Invest S.A., the contractors, had been productive, and they had committed to resuming work promptly to ensure its speedy completion.

Infrastructure development in Kumasi also featured prominently in his address.

President Mahama pointed out that projects such as the Suame Interchange and various road works had been launched without secured funding, exacerbating challenges faced by residents.

"We are actively seeking funding sources to accelerate progress on these projects to alleviate the difficulties and inconveniences residents of Kumasi endure," he affirmed.

Regarding the stalled Kejetia Market Phase II project, President Mahama acknowledged that its progress had been hindered by Ghana’s debt exchange programme.

However, with official negotiations with the creditor committee now concluded, he expressed optimism about engaging lenders in bilateral discussions to resume work.

"With the completion of official negotiations, we can now begin bilateral discussions with lenders to restart work on the Kumasi Market Phase II project," he noted.
