President John Mahama has announced plans to increase the number of people from the Konkomba ethnic group serving in his government ahead of the 2016 elections.
The president made the promise while addressing the chiefs and people of Saboba near Yendi during the annual Konkomba Youth Association Congress.
Leaders from the Konkomba community in the Northern Region had complained to the President about their exclusion from government.
But President Mahama said his attention has been drawn to the concerns raised by the community and has plans to resolve it.
He asked that residents be patient because the low representation of Konkombas in governance will be properly addressed.
The President also announced a package to open up a number of communities in the Northern Region through construction of new roads.
He says most of the roads would be tarred to allow for easy transportation of goods to commercial centres.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has also announced plans to build a new bridge over the Volta Lake to complement the strategic Adomi Bridge.
He promised other roads around the area are being improved as well.
