President John Dramani Mahama’s first 100 days are expected to feature a series of “scrapping” measures and tough decisions aimed at eliminating controversial tax handles introduced by the Akufo-Addo administration.
In fact, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 Manifesto, President Mahama promised to scrap four taxes, including import duty on selected vehicles, in his first 100 days as President of the Republic of Ghana.
According to the NDC 2024 Manifesto, these taxes are “draconian” and will be scrapped within Mahama’s first 100 days as President.
“We will scrap the following draconian taxes within our first 100 days in office to alleviate hardships and ease the high cost of doing business: E-levy, COVID levy, 10% levy on bet winnings, emissions levy, and import duty on vehicles and equipment imported into the country for industrial and agricultural purposes,” page 3 of the NDC 2024 Manifesto stated.

Apart from these four taxes expected to be scrapped, the President also promised to rationalise import duties in general as well fees and charges to ease the cost of doing business in the country.
"Rationalize import duties, fees and charges to reduce the cost of doing business," page 30 of the NDC 2024 Manifesto emphasized.

In order to promote good governance, the President has also promised to roll out 11 actions, which include scrapping “the payment of ex gratia,” engaging stakeholders to review the regulatory framework for political party financing, reviewing the policy on providing official housing for political appointees, and seven other key actions.
Below are the 11 actions to be carried out in President Mahama's first 100 days in office:
