Highlife musician, Kuami Eugene has advised underground artistes to make all the mistakes they can at this point in their careers.
According to him, upcoming artistes have the chance to make a lot of mistakes now and correct them before it’s too late.
Kuami Eugene gave the admonition while hanging out on Joy FM’s Drivetime Show on Friday.
The ‘Angela’ hitmaker used the opportunity to highlight why the pressure to be perfect is different for underground artiste in relation to their mainstream counterparts.
He explained that there is little to no pressure on underground acts to be perfect in their craft. Thus, the perfection expectancy rate is low for underground artistes as compared to mainstream acts.
Throwing more light on the level of perfection fans expect from mainstream artistes, Kuami Eugene said, “people have numerous ways to express how they feel, so I’m just telling every underground act out there, that this is the chance to make mistakes and correct them, because when you become Kuami Eugene [a mainstream act]…once it is out there, they judge you. But as an underground act, you can learn from your mistakes, even if it’s out there”.
He referenced how some mainstream artistes struggle to make hit songs, stating there is no second chance for them because they are already in the limelight.
