A 35-year-old man who stabbed three people, including his ex-wife and stepson at Akwatia in the Eastern Region has died.

Kwasi Matthew was receiving treatment at the St Dominic's Hospital at Akwatia after drinking weedicide.

Akwatia District Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Francis Aboakye, revealed this in an interview with JoyNews.

An eyewitness who spoke to JoyNews said the deceased was enraged when he found out that his ex-wife, Theresa– whom he had been separated from for two years, was married to another man and had borne a child.

Matthew discovered this when he visited her upon information that one of his son, who lived with Theresa, had fallen ill.

Upon arrival at the house and discovering that Thersa had moved onto another man, a misunderstanding ensued between the two. Eyewitnesses report that the two were heard engaged in an argument, after which Theresa began screaming, “he is killing me…he is killing me”, the eyewitness said.

A samaritan whose name has been withheld, entered the room in an attempt to rescue Theresa but a blood-crazed Matthew, who had already stabbed his ex-wife and stepson stabbed him also.

Others who rushed to the scene report that by the time they made it to the room, Matthew had grabbed hold of a bottle of weedicide and consumed it. 

They rushed all four to the St Dominic's Hospital but unfortunately the little boy succumbed to his wounds. Matthew himself also passed on despite efforts of doctors there. 

Police however confirmed that the other two victims are responding to treatment and revealed that investigations have begun into the matter.
