Mayweather easily outpoints Guerrero

Unbeaten boxing superstar Floyd “Money” Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) defended his WBC welterweight belt with a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Southpaw Guerrero didn’t come out as aggressive as expected and Mayweather landed a few pot shots in round one. Slow pace in round two where neither did much. Mayweather connected with some lead rights in round three. Mayweather repeatedly beating Guerrero to the punch in round four. Mayweather’s right continued to pick Guerrero apart while Guerrero was unable to apply meaningful pressure. Guerrero was cut over the left eye in round eight, motivating Floyd to become more aggressive. Floyd continued to put rounds in the bank until round twelve when he mostly stayed out of range. Scores were 117-111 on all cards. Unbeaten two-division world champion Abner Mares (26-0-1, 14 KOs) scored dethroned WBC featherweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon (44-5, 35 KOs) by ninth round TKO. In a grudge match, rising middleweight J’Leon Love (16-0, 8 KOs) survived a sixth round knockdown to win an unpopular split decision over recent world title challenger Gabriel Rosado (21-7, 13 KOs) in a battle for the vacant NABF middleweight title. Rosado dropped Love with a right hand at the end of round six and rocked him in round nine, but in the end Love was ahead 97-92, 95-94 on two cards. Rosado was up 95-94 on the third card.
