The Minority in Parliament has demanded the list of beneficiaries of some ¢4 million allocated for government communication identified in the 2021 budget.
The minority noted that an amount of ¢6 million allocated for the 2020 budget meant for communication purposes was unjustifiably spent.
Speaking during a debate on the 2021 budget on the floor of the House, MP for Ningo Prampram, questioned why the ¢4 million is separate from the allocation for the Ministry of Information.
Sam George argued that there are several individuals who speak for and on behalf of the government including the President's Cousin, Gabby Otchere Darko and want to know if Mr Darko would be a beneficiary of the ¢4 million.
“We spent 6 million on them last year, we need to know who and which people are benefiting from the ¢6 million last year, and ¢4 million this year, we need to know who these people are."
“I’m wondering if I can, or who these government communicators are because we keep seeing several people speaking for the government.
“In fact, one of them who before coming into government will want to know if he’s still one of the spokespersons making use of this ¢6 million or going to make use of this ¢4 million is Gabby Otchere Darko.
“Are these the people we have spent ¢6 million on last year and we are going to spend ¢4 million on, to do communications for us?" he quizzed.
