A 37-year-old motor rider, Abdullah Osman, is in critical condition after being knocked down by a speeding Sprinter bus at Anhwiaso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service in Bibiani, the bus, with registration number AS 6349-18, was travelling from Sefwi Bekwai towards Kumasi when the accident occurred. The driver of the bus, 29-year-old Obed Opoku, allegedly failed to exercise due care while speeding.
The crash happened near the Anhwiaso Clinic Junction when the bus collided with the unregistered Haojin motorcycle ridden by Osman.
He, a teacher at Queens Senior High School in Anhwiaso, was reportedly attempting to join the main road from the clinic towards the township at the time.
Osman sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to Anhwiaso Community Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Eyewitness Joseph Nsiah recounted the incident to Adom News, describing the sequence of events leading to the crash.
Both the Sprinter bus and motorcycle have been removed from the scene to restore traffic flow, while police continue investigations into the accident.
