Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme, Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodo, defied hostile posture by some Bukom youth activists and initiate a novelty “The MPs Public Forum,” on Tuesday.
The MP exhibited high sense of political maturity, by calmly engaging and restraining the hostile youth, who assembled amidst shouts and insults to disrupt the public occasion.
Mr. Tackie-Komme said the forum was to offer the people the opportunity to interact, share their concerns and also learn at first hand about government policies and plans for the area.
He educated the constituents on Parliamentary proceedings, MP’s role in national development, mandate of state agencies such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Electricity Corporation of Ghana (ECG) and other utility service providers.
Mr. Tackie-Komme said that since his assumption of office,he has "actively lobbied and advocated for development for the constituency and I personally used part of my MP’s Share of the Common Fund to assist and rehabilitate the James Town Maternity Block.”
The MP said that he provided a generator, water tanker and renovated the Nurses restroom of the Usher Forts Polyclinic, assisted two second cycle schools in the constituency with about 50 computers.
Mr. Tackie-Komme said that the Children’s Hospital in Accra also benefited from his efforts and he ensured that some youth were engaged under the National Youth Employment Programme.
The MP welcomed suggestions from the people for constant public forum.
Officials from the ECG, Ghana Water Company, Metro Road Department and Accra Metropolitan Assembly participated in the event.
