Mobile market leader MTN Ghana has launched a new offer dubbed “MTN 123 Promo” to reward customers instantly on a daily basis and enable them to keep in touch with their Family & Friends on MTN and other networks.
A statement from MTN said the promo was designed to deliver great value to all MTN subscribers, adding that “subscribers will have to dial *315# or send a blank message to 315. They then have to select their preferred option of 1, 2 or 3 Ghana cedis to enjoy the daily package of 120, 250 or 400 minutes of talk time respectively, as well as other freebies.”
It said for GHC1 only, subscribers enjoy 120 minutes of talk time with other MTN subscribers. The GHC2 option allows subscribers to enjoy 250 minutes of MTN to MTN calls plus an additional five minutes of calls to other networks in Ghana. For GHC3, customers receive 400 minutes talk time on MTN to MTN calls, an additional 10 minutes of talk time to other networks plus 50MB of data.
“The 123 promo is a daily offer that begins from 12:00 am till 11:59 pm each day,” the statement emphasized. Which means with 23hour59minutes, if a user is not able to spend all the credit, he or she loses it.
Launching the service in Accra, Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Ghana, Mr Rahul De, indicated that research has shown that customers need greater value from their service providers, and that is why MTN consistently develops products and services to increase customer satisfaction and meet their varying telecommunications needs.
He said, “MTN continues to develop products and services aimed at making the lives of our customers a lot brighter. From past experience and research conducted, we try to understand our customers’ preferences better. We realised that bonuses and rewards are the most preferred by our customers and this offer simply seeks to instantly satisfy that preference.”
Mr Rahul De said the uniqueness of the MTN 123 promo is that even though calls can be enjoyed on the MTN–MTN network, there is also an opportunity to call people on other networks and enjoy free data as well.
The 123 promo is among a number of services such as the MTN Zone, Just for You, and Family and Friends, that MTN has introduced to give customers the best value propositions.
The MTN Zone gives great value but it has lost steam and MTN has for a long time not bothered to introduce any new promo to match the numerous new value offers from competition.
It is not a surprise therefore that in this year’s MobileWorld Ghana Telecom Awards nominations, MTN was lost from the list of nominees for the Mobile Innovative Product of the Year. It is therefore being speculated that MTN’s absence from that category could have been the wake-up call that informed the launch of the 123 promo.
