Gary Al-Smith has a reputation in the global media which has seen him consistently break the glass ceiling where working with the cream of global media titles is concerned.
On Wednesday, the Joy Sports editor trended all day after making a studio appearance with the English Premier League television.
Having given notice a day before that he was to be on Premier League Today, the league's news and analysis show for the international market, Gary got hordes of fans glued to their sets in the morning.
But before the show started, Al-Smith would tease the audience on social media with a photo of himself and Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, as they both got ready for their respective programs.
That was followed by the show itself, where the journalist discussed Africa's impact over the years on the league. The 15-minute segment showcased the range, depth and wit of Al-Smith, and social media duly responded. According to producers of the show, it is the first time a Ghanaian has been invited to make an appearance in the London studios.
Gary's global footprint has seen him become a regular guest on Al Jazeera's news bulletins in addition to writing for the Guardian and the New York Times. He has also previously made appearances on CNN and ESPN. He was also editor for SuperSport for five years before joining the Multimedia Group in 2015.
