International R&B super star, Aliaune Damala Akon Thiam, known on stage as Akon, has promised Ghanaians a concert of a lifetime as he is set to take the stage Saturday night to headline the Guinness Big Eruption Concert.
The Senegalese-born music sensation, who is headlining the concert which will come off at the Accra Sports Stadium Saturday night alongside other renowned artistes, said it's been a while since he performed in Ghana adding that he is fired up for the show.
Speaking in an interview on Drive Time on Joy FM Friday night with Kwabena Anokye Adisi (Bola Ray), Akon said his energy level is high and he can't wait to hit the stage.
"I came here about five years ago, so it's been a lot happening since then, the show has changed dramatically since then and the energy level has risen since then so I am so excited to be in Ghana and I can't wait to [hit the stage]," the Konvict Music boss said.
He added that: "Ghanaian fans I am so excited to be here, I'm so excited to be performing for you guys just make sure you are there. I promise you if you don't you will miss a huge concert that will be talked about for years."
Asked the inspiration behind his music success, the 'Lonely' hit singer said he owes his huge success to fans in and out of the African continent because "they are the ones that have been holding me down forever. Whenever I get their support, it helps me stay on top."
Akon revealed that he is looking forward to doing some major collaborations with some Ghanaian artistes in 2014.
He said he also has keen interest in recording with female acts from the continent: "I've been looking for the right female artistes to collaborate with. This search has been going on for years I just haven't found the right female yet."
