A 60-year-old ammunition and drug dealer has been arrested by the Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission at Kundugu in the Wa East District.
The suspect, Abass Seidu, was arrested on 29 January 2026 following a series of surveillance by undercover operatives from the Regional Command at the Kundugu market in the Wa East District and his stash house at Wa, the regional capital of the Upper West Region.
Operatives found the suspect in possession of 3 cartons of ammunition, tramadol concealed in assorted pharmaceutical drugs. A further search of the suspects’ stash house at Wa-Kejetia lorry station resulted in the discovery of 7 cartons and 362 single pieces of ammunition.
Other items found at the suspect’s stash house were assorted foreign cigarettes. In all, 2626 cartridges of ammunition were found with the suspect.
The suspect has been dealing with local clients as well as clients from Burkina Faso.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Wa Municipal Police for further investigations and processing for court.
The Regional Command cautioned the general public to refrain from engaging in acts that would put them into trouble.
