The Independent Presidential candidate in the 2008 elections, Mr. Kwesi Amoafo Yeboah has called on Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP to concede defeat in the interest of peace.
He said the majority of Ghanaians have shown that they prefer to have the NDC’s Prof. Mills as the next president.
“The gracious thing to do is bow out and work towards next time,” he told Joy FM.
Mr Amoafo said the allegations of rigging being leveled by the NPP and the NDC were very unfortunate if they were true.
For him, those who want to lead the nation cannot engage in such fraudulent acts in order to gain the mandate of the people.
If the allegations are false, then Ghanaians, he said, must desist from peddling unfounded runours as that could produce undesirable consequences for the country.
Mr Amoafo Yeboah was the only independent candidate during the December 7, elections.
He performed considerably better than he was widely expected to do.
He refused to endorse either of the two parties who contested the presidential run-off on December 28.
The presidential candidate of the CPP, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has however said it was within the rights of the NPP to use the legal process to resolve whatever issues they had with the results.
He said instead of using force, violence and illegal means, the party has resorted to due process.
Dr. Nduom, however, stressed the need for supporters of the NPP to exercise patience while their leaders use legal means to resolve the issues.
He cautioned if care is not taken, Ghana will not be the country “we are all proud of.”
The NPP tried to file a writ in court to place an injunction on the EC from declaring a winner after the Tain election.
But Justice Amoako Asante refused to hear the motion which was on Ex-parte instructing the party to come on motion on notice.
