Agro Kings Limited, producers of Nana’s Rice, in partnership with Stevens Driving School, organised a refresher program and competition for drivers within the Madina Municipality and its environs.
The exciting event, which drew participants from some Driver Union groups in Madina and its surrounding areas, was aimed at reinforcing some best defensive driving standards among the drivers, whilst equipping them to better navigate the ever-changing and complex demands on our roads.

As part of activities rolled-out, the drivers were engaged in competitive activities, some of which included: reverse parking competition, pick and answer, tyre changing challenge and other simulation exercises that are relevant for effective and safe driving.
Deserving winners of various competitive activities were rewarded with bags of Nana’s Rice, branded souvenirs and other consolation prizes, much to the delight of onlookers.

Commenting on the event, Managing Director of Agro Kings Limited, Angela Barnes, noted that the partnership forms part of the company’s commitment to deepening community engagement, and most importantly, promoting best safety standards on our roads.
"As a people-centred organisation, we believe some of these partnerships are critical to building impactful community engagements and relationships.
"As a brand that brings delight to homes, we thought that bringing these valued drivers this delightful and educative experience will help them to better manage the challenges that come with their work", she remarked.

"We expect that this activity, which can pass for a refresher programme, for these drivers, will challenge them to prioritize the safety, security and sanity of their passengers for the greater good.
"We are aware that these drivers hardly have the attention and support they deserve and we intend to replicate this activity across the country, as part of our broader road safety and sanity campaign’’ she added.
For his part, Mr. Eric Okuo, an Instructor with Stevens Driving School, who served as the facilitator for the event, expressed his delight for the opportunity to engage and educate drivers, some of who do not have any formal training in defensive driving.

‘‘I would like to appreciate Producers of Nana’s Rice for their partnership. This has given my organization the opportunity to take drivers through these competitive drills and training. This laudable gesture hardly happens in our part of the world,’’ he stated.
Mr. Ato Afful, a participant and driver at the Madina station, also expressed his delight over the eye-opening drills, simulation exercises and competition.
